On-board Credits

We are scheduled to go on the Mariner of the Seas but due to the change in itinerary, we are reconsidering. They will offer us on-board credits, so what we are wondering, what can those credits be used for?? I realize that we can use them towards drinks, specialty resturants, etc..but can they used for land excusions? the spa? Any help would be appreicated

AFIK...you can use them for anything that you charge to your seapass...so yes, they can be used for the spa and SHOULD be OK for shore excursions......yes, as i recall with our OBC last time they just credited that then deducted everything we charged...and we paid the leftover amount!

That is correct. It is applied to your statement. As you add items to your seapass the OBC deducts until you reach the OBC limit. If you book an excursion while on the ship it will subtract from that also. It will not do anything if you book online prior to cruise.

yes but there is a 3% surcharge to do that IIRC (haven't done it, but that's what i've heard---i think they list that in the compass too!)

Yes, there is a 3% charge to take cash on your Seapass in the casino. However, you can sweet talk some money from the Purser without the 3% charge from your onboard account if you give them a reason other than using the casino, like needing cash for shore or additional tips.

Cruisermeg is correct. You can get cash from the casino, but you pay a 3% fee for doing it.

On our last cruise (2-1-09, Explorer), we had over $700 in on board credits. We used some of them for excursions, but took the majority in cash from the casino. I would rather pay the 3% fee than lose the credits. We used the cash to pay our gratuities, and put the rest in our pockets. I'll never leave unused credits on my account.

Yes, you will be given a form to fill out by your cabin attendant about 2 - 3 nights before the end of the cruise. You fill out whom the tips are from and how much, drop it off at the Guest Relations desk, and you will get vouchers back and envelopes to put the vouchers in and then give out to those receiving the tips. The Guest Relations will charge the tips to the onboard account and use the OBC.
