Best way to get from IAH to Galveston?

We are sailing out of Galveston and are wondering what's the best (cheapest) way to get from Houston to Galveston? We didn't book airfare through RCCL so we're on our own. Thank you so much!

I'm renting a car from Enterprize in Houston and dropping it off in Galveston. They are closed on Sundays but have incorporated a dropbox for keys so vehicles can be dropped off on Sunday. You can also rent a car to return to Houston and they will bring it to the dock and be waiting for you. It's going to cost about $30 each way for a midsize car.

You can have more freedom that way as well. We are going to go to the Houston Zoo before going to Galveston and be able to explore once we get there. You can't do that with a straight transfer.

I'm glad to help. I was really struggling with how to get to Galveston as we are going in a day early and didn't want to be restricted. When I was first looking into the car rental Enterprize was still in the process of setting up the drop box for keys. I would suggest actually calling the Enterprize in Galveston to make your arrangments though since you can't make the reservation online as it is listed as closed. Thier number is 1-409-740-0700. I would check thier rates as well. I think I read on another post that you are going Sept 28th? I'm going on the 7th of September and the rates are low then but for July it was like $60. Hope this helps.
