Sabrett Hot Dogs on Norwegian Breakaway

The authentic taste of
New York on Breakaway
"New York's finest" doesn't only mean the NYPD. Not, at least, for foodies. We think New York and hot dogs rather simultaneously, particularly Sabrett. As a native New Yorker, I grew up seeing the iconic carts (and smelling the aromas) on nearly every street corner. My mother would always say don't eat off the carts, but eat I did - actually, devour is the appropriate verb. Now Norwegian Breakaway, which will call the Big Apple its year-round homeport when it debuts in May 2013, announced it will provide complimentary Sabrett hot dogs to guests.
Located on the Waterfront, pool deck and forward deck, three Sabrett hot dog carts will sport the brand's yellow-and-blue umbrellas and offer the same all-beef frankfurters that New Yorkers adore. For those who never tasted a Sabrett, get ready for a treat. These dogs are particularly known for the noticeable snap of their natural casing.
Carts will feature Sabrett's own condiments, such as mustard, sauerkraut, relish and onions in a tomato sauce. Ordering a frank "all the way" means include every topping (the server will not think you are being forward).
Some of the best, and unfortunately worst, hot dogs I've ever had have come from a New York hot dog cart.
I know that Norwegian's will be great and I think it's a great innovation to put the hot dog carts on the ship. Especially if they aren't additional charge.
Breakaway is a ship I'm actually getting excited about. I think NCL learned a lot from Epic and will incorporate what worked, get rid of what doesn't and add some new stuff. I also like the idea of sailing year round from New York.
Gee: Now I'm hungry.
Take care,
Mike
