Hi Jiminy,
Our cruise was wonderful! We just got home and already I am enjoying the memories of the Norwegian Pearl. It's a beautiful ship and we LOVED the freestyle dining. We all thought the food was very good and never had a meal we didn't enjoy. We never went to any of the specialty restaurants. The Summer Palace and Indigo were wonderful and we enjoyed every meal there. You can't wear shorts, etc. and you will feel very comfortable in resort casual or even more formal attire. We really loved eating outdoors at the Great Outdoors portion of the Garden Cafe. Being from Minnesota, that was a real treat! Eating whenever you wanted to was very nice. It was our first cruise so I have never been on a cruise with specific dining times and assigned tables, so I have nothing to compare it to, but we loved it.
