Default Help/what's allowed

Does anyone know what is the RCCL policy on:

1. travel irons
2. bringing your own champagne/wine
3. What is "smart casual"?

Also..we are first time cruisers, will be cruising eastern/souther caribbean this January. I am assuming this calls for tropical weather dress?

The most Eastern ports may be a little cooler in January, but still sunny and nice. Southern ports will be just right for a Winter break both air temp and water temp.

1. travel irons - NO ships don't want to risk a fire.
2. bringing your own champagne/wine- Pack it in your checked luggage.
3. What is "smart casual"?- nice neat casual attire: dockers and collared shirt for him, pants outfit, sundress, nice capri set for her. No shorts or tank tops please.

Have a great time.

Hi Lee,
Just to add a note, RCCL doesn't have any self service laundry rooms, so you'll have to use the laundry service they provide.. One way to eleminate wrinkles while traveling, is to pack all your dresses in the plastic dry cleaner bags, no ironing will be needed, I do this all the time and it does work.

We've sailed Carnival (1996) and Disney (2002) and both times I packed a travel iron in my check-in luggage without any problem. We are sailing Carnival Glory in two weeks and plan to do the same. Hopefully, I won't have any problems.

most cruise lines state that no travel irons are allowed -FIRE HAZZARD,however; quite a few passengers choose to ignore this policy and pack their irons, will your cabin steward confiscate your travel iron? No. Travel steamers are a much better and SAFER choice than irons. Hanging your garment in the bathroom and turning the shower on hot also works great. The cruise lines also have an ironing/laundry service for a nominal fee.

I e-mailed RCI and asked if you could bring an iron on board and they said no - like everyone said it's a fire hazard. They included the cost of the laundry / ironing service and it was very reasonable ( for example it was $1.75 to iron a shirt)
