Do you like hard or soft ice cream best and what is your favorite flavor?

My favourite has always been hard ice cream, and usually chocolate. But my local ice cream place has been making me a specialty for years now - orange sherbet with a chocolate dip (like they use for the soft ice cream). Pure magic! If you remember "Space Bars" from your childhood, that's what it's like.

I like both!

If I could have any ice cream, though, I'd have Baskin Robbins' chocolate raspberry truffle. Sadly, they don't make it anymore.

At Baskin Robbins, now, I usually go with pralines and cream. At Dairy Queen, I get a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate.

I like hard ice cream best. The Godiva chocolate flavors are probably my favorite, but these days I look for the labels that say no-fat or low fat. Edy's does a good job with those.

WI is famous for it's frozen custard which is like a soft ice cream. It's really delicious too. I was surprised when we first moved here from out east to the land of the moo cows that you couldn't find any ice cream stands. All they have are the custard places. Once in a while for a treat we'll take a ride, and stop and get some of the flavor of the day at one of those places. Just remembered Cold Stone has come to WI recently. Another nice addition. :-)

Here in Vermont soft-serves are called creamies - Maple Creamies - are my favorite

as for hard ice cream - butter crunch or butter pecan.

There are too many to choose from!!!!

Hard: I have 2 faves
1. Ben and Jerry's: Chunky Monkey
2. Baskin & Robin's: Chocolate Peanut Butter

Soft: Dairy Queen: Twist with the crunch coat
There is a small place in my hometown (Libertyville, IL) called Dairy Dream, they
something called a "Deam Cone" It's orange and vanilla twist

Custard: Nothing can beat Culver's (I live in WIsonsin now, and custard is BIG around
here)

Just too many, sorry, I couldn't just choose one

we have a local dairy bar in town that makes the best fresh homeade ice cream.
Peanut Butter Cup is my favorite, but in the fall he makes Pumpkin Ice Cream that is to die for!

I have lotsa, lotsa favorites.

Mostest favorite:
Blue Belle Banana Pudding Ice Cream
then:
Dairy Queen blizzard - Reese's Peanut Butter Cup
Baskin and Robbins - Pralines and Cream
Kaleidoscoop - Tiramasu
Chick Filet - ice dream, only comes in vanilla.

And I've made two batches of French Vanilla homemade this week!

Three things I missed after moving to Florida from Connecticut.....frozen custard, pizza, and hot lobster pieces served in a toasted hot dog bun with butter dripping from it.

Hard and soft each have their place in my life.
Absolute favorite would have to be Kohr's butterscotch ripple on the boardwalk at the Jersey shore.....sigh....with a chaser of Johnsons carmel corn.....is it any wonder I have diabetes?

Angela I am with you..I am not allowed to eat the real thing. BUT..when I do I like hard chocolate chip cookie dough and coffee ice cream from the local ice cream store.
If I ever buy ice cream at the store I like the java Chip from Starbucks and off course Ben &Jerry's. Awful Awfuls from RI are the absolut best right Anne????????They have them at the Newport Creamery..to die for.

Oh, Ice Cream .......That's one of the 5 food groups in my house.
Ok, Overall favorite company...... Ben and Jerrys only because we don'y have a Friendly's close by! Phish Food is one of the tops as is Cherry Garcia. Edy's makes Coney Island Waffle Cone which is my youngest's fave and Dh likes Fossile Fuel. Sue, haven't had an Awful Awful in a long long time. Will have to take kids there in Aug for one.

Hard Ice Cream has got to be Bryers Butter Almond, and like Magnolia, I really like the Chick Filet ice cream. (they call it Ice Dream) I usually get chocolate sauce on it. Great stuff!!!!

I like soft well enough... Dq, McDonalds, Chick Fil A, Sonic.... all good !!

Hard flavors I like : BANANA PUDDING / Blue Bell
BANANA NUT / Blue Bell

SUPERMAN / Kaleidoscoop

Orange Sherbet / Braums

But.... if forced to choose... I am more of a SALT person... give me chips & salsa !

I love Butter Pecan, and Maple Walnut. I figure if I am eating ice cream I should be eating something healthy...so I think why nut pecans and walnuts?
I also love chocolate and swiss mocha and coffee ice cream. I have heard of marshmallow ice cream but never had it, my Dad used to work for an ice cream company and brought home a sample of marshmallow ice cream they were testing out, but it wouldn't stay frozen very good because of all the sugar.It sure did taste great though! That was over 30 years ago and I have heard people talk about marshmallow ice cream so I guess they have found a way to make it stay frozen now . I just have to find out where I can get it!
