Has anyone signed up for the Carnival charity event on Friday? The information was in John's Blog a while back, so I volunteered through the website. I haven't heard much about it since.

Snooze,
Here is what we received from them via email. Perhaps you should email her to be sure you have all youi need.
Phil & Liz
From: Heather Huth:
Thank you so much for your registration. I have attached the directions on where to meet us as well as the volunteer release forms I will get from you that morning. If you have nay questions, please feel free to email or call. I look forward to meeting you all.
Yes I did get an email early, but never received an attachment, directions, etc. They didn't have a location when I spoke with her. I volunteered to work a chain saw so not sure if site was chosen that it will be needed or not. I'll email her again.
I thought I had a thread about transportation to this meeting place, but I don't see it now.
Thanks again.

After this info was posted by Stephanie, I fully expected a link to show up on John's Blog, or his Blogger's Cruise info page.
We're still waiting. Sorry to say, at the moment they are appearing fairly discorganized. By volunteering directly with the charity, I'm not sure they'll know you are actually included with the Carnival group... or will Carnival know you've volunteered yourself.
No reason not to volunteer and do the work... just think John and Carnival would have this much better organized.
Stephanie (John's keeper of the blog ) says there will be a link up on the blog site this coming for week, for those who want to register to volunteer.

Kuki,
I spoke directly with Heather when Joyce and I sent in our application. It was made clear that we were with CruiseMates and Carnival. She told us all info would be forwarded To Carnival. Beacon seems to be staffed by some very nice people.
I just got "antsy" waiting so long for info.

Well I have information on the transportation issue. Now that the final payment is posted and I have access to my Carnival account I can see exactly what was included. I booked the hotel package so that included transportation to and from the volunteer meeting spot on Friday. I guess you are on your own if you don't get their package unless you can purchase the transport separately.

John posted this on his blog Dec. 5. So if you want to make sure you're on the list of volunteers....
Now, as far as the New Orleans charity event is concerned they will only allow 100 of us to assist. Therefore, we need to have the names of those who would like to volunteer. A link to a form will go up tomorrow Saturday (December 6, 2008) at 12:00 pm eastern standard time on my blog.
