Port side or Starboard side?

If you have the opportunity do you choose Port or Starboard? I have read that one side of the ship is nonsmoking and the other for smoking is this true and are there any other notable differences? We have a balcony cabin on the Starboard side and wondered good or bad?

I have no preferrance. Port or starboard. Just as long as I'm on that ship when it sails. 8)

For as the smoking, That for the back Lido deck. One side is smoking, and the other is non.

There is not much difference when it comes to docking at the ports because the captain doesn't know which side he will dock until the port master gives him instructions as he pulls into port.

Whatever side of the sun you are on going, you will be on the opposite side coming back. If you understand what I mean.

No matter which side you're on, there might be another ship docked right next to you blocking your view anyway. Most of the time that's what happens.
