Default travel irons

In reading the post about drinking on the ship I noticed one of the posters said something about travel irons. Are they allowed on board or not?

There are irons in the laundry rooms on most ships. Most people bring their own as it's handy. You shouldn't have any problems.

Question for the people who say travel irons are not allowed.... where did you read this info? I went on Carnival's web site and cannot find any info. about this. On our cruise last year we bought an iron and left it sitting out in plain sight the whole time so I know the cabin steward saw it but he never said anything to us.

I just went to the Carnival site and couldn't find info. about irons either! Just that they are available in the laundry rooms. They have redone their site recently so maybe they missed this. This info. used to be there. From what I have heard, NO ship allows travel irons due to the fire hazard.

I recently tried the Downy Wrinkle Releaser (bought it at WM) based on cruiser's recommendations on this site. I thought it couldn't possibly replace ironing. It really works! You might want to buy a bottle and try it before you leave.
I hate ironing-so this is wonderful!

Your cabin steward won't say anything about anything "illegal". They want their tip!

Just got back from the carnival destiny.....Carnival will confenscate your travel iron if it is found in your suit case.....you will recieve a note in your cabin and you and everybody else that broguht one will be down on the crew deck and you will be given some type of tag and you can claim your iron on the last night....they are a major fire hazard.

Must not apply to a Steamer, we left out in plain sight on the Conquest all 7 days..... I would think that a steamer would have the same fire hazard...... By the way take a power splitter with you, the wall only has 2 A/C plugs below the TV...... Their is a Hairdryer in the bath....

Irons are prohibited by Carnival. Please see the Carnival website link below:

A steamer is not the same fire hazzard as a travel iron. There is no hot surface, that can tip over and start a fire.

Fire is the NUMBER 1 fear on a cruise ship. Not sure why anyone would insist on bringing one and using it in their cabin, just for the sake of wrinkle free clothes.

I have always taken my travel iron on all my cruises and as of yet have never had it confiscated. If the ship does have a landry room {most do now on various different floors and locations}I will use it using my own iron.On one CCL curise I asked our room steward where the landry room was beacuse I was going to use my own iron in there. He said normally they dont allow irons to be used in the room but I could use it in my cabin I should just be careful not to leave it on or unattended. I will say I did use the landry room on the Victory for ironing on our last cruise , but it was horrible. The ironing board was set up caddy corner near the door and sink. It was very hard to use. I finally gave up{after the sleve of my shirt went into the sink}, and just ironed in my room. I usually do all my ironing on the first night anyway to get it out of the way so after that the iron is packed away ,also the landry rooms are usually empty that first night.

I will say Princess cruise lines{Golden Princess} had the best and biggest landry rooms I have every seen on a cruise ship. They were in the middle part of the ship{so weather you were port or starboard you could enter it}it had 4 ironing board stations and about 4 washers and dryers each.
