How many bags do You take?

okay for the 2 of us, 3 checked bags and 1 carry on, with extra carry on packed for the way home. I feel as if I did well. 3rd cruise now, learning less is more, but still hate to check 3 bags!!!

so how many can you get away with at a minimal on a 7 day cruise?

On Victory May 29th!!!!

Single. Next year on cruise number 17. Take carry-on.... and one 27" suitcase only 2/3 full. Key is mix/match. I also prepare a "packing list" before my cruise. Since some items, such as slacks/evening wear, are only going to be worn for about 5 hours [rather than the 14-16 you may wear them on a typical "workday"] I take that into account, too.

The wife and I have a total of 3. 1-suitcase for me, 1- for her, and 1- carry on. Thats about as good as it gets for us.
I think on our first cruise, we had like 5 bags ! lol !
Like the ole sayin goes, bring half the clothes, and twice as much money !

My goal is 1 suitcase and 1 carry-on per person (family of 4). Last time, we took 5 suitcases, but we did have extra clothes because we were spending a week in WDW post-cruise. The formal wear and shoes takes up one large suitcase. Then, we'll have a suitcase for beach things, including snorkel gear, and 2 additional suitcases with the rest of our clothes. And yes, we do mix and match!!!!

I take 1 suitcase, a 26" expandable. My carry-on is the size of a large purse with only my money, documents, snacks, book, etc. I do not carry any clothes in my carry-ons. Mix and match everything you pack so you can make lots of outfits. If it doesn't match, do not take it. I pack 2 pair of shoes, 1 dress, 1 sandal and I wear 1 pair.

The key is never take more luggage than you can handle by yourself.

2 checked and 1 carry on . One of the checked is not full. I carry all of my meds , one change of clothes ,camera and jewelry plus the cruise docs and passport. my small checked bag hooks to the big one.

I bring one with clothes, one for shoes (hate to pack shoes with my clothes), carry on with cosmetics and jewelry and an extra that holds a beach tote ( that becomes another carry on for our over night stuff), a beach towel (so I don't loose the ships), collapsable cooler, water, bottle of wine and some diet soda for the room. We usually have 3 suitcases each and a carry on each.

But I like to have alot of stuff because I like the option of being able to change into something else if I choose too.

Went on Conquest last June, 2004......took too many items...made things super heavy and huge. This July when we sail the Sensation, we are taking one suitcase per person to check in and one carry-on per person.......fewer extras such as collapsible cooler heavy with odds and ends. We are stowing our "liquid refreshments" in zip-loc bags between clothes in the suitcases and not taking quite as much of that this time. We went kind of nuts on that the last time.....

! One can use the little refrigerator in the room after having it cleared out. Also, we are taking the thermal mug for deckside.

Between my husband and me, we usually take:
one suitcase each
one large duffel bag that we share (only about half full)
one garment bag that we share
one backpack each (this is what we use for carry-on, works great for excursions)

packing hint: if you and spouse are each taking a suitcase, pack half of your clothes in each, so that in case one gets lost somewhere, you still have clothes.

I have heard this... take old clothes with you... only pack one suitcase... after waering clothes .. and you have all your goodies... Put old clothes in garbage.. and pack your goodies from port in your suitcase...

Did I do that? No.... but was thought provoking..

last cruise I was on was my third... my finaces's first.... told her not to over pack.. But quess who over packed... me... of course...

Our next cruise is in July a 7 day... What we are planning.. is each of us will take a 29 inch suticase... then we will share a 26 inch suticase.. and share a garmet bag. Plus 2 carryons.... But we are going to disney for 5 days also.
