it sounds like one of those single services you have tables set up and one guy and one girl sit at each table for 3 minutes then switch. Eventually you meet everyone and who knows sparks may fly.

On land they call this Speed Dating. Single (hopefully) people meet at a bar. The organizers separate the men and wowen. Then they start meeting each other, and only have 3 - 5 minutes to talk to each one on down the line. Notes are made and then the single people notify the organizers of who they would like to meet. If a match is made, the organizer gets them together some how. The organizer is usally some enterprising person who charges the attendees $40 or something like that. The organizers make sure that there are an even number of men and women so I guess you have to make reservations.
They did an episode on Sex and the City about this. It was very funny. No one was interested in Miranda because she was a lawyer, so she started telling people she was a flight attendant and the men really started to dig her....it was funny
