usually they will bargain, but that depends what kind of shops they are. When you ask them how much just simply giva a nod of the head and say...no thats too expensive, I saw it somewhere else for less....and when you start to walk away, they pull you back with a better price!!! Have fun...and try the Rollandi's Pizza...its AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have brick oven pizza with any kind of topping possible, including LOBSTER!!! Though the name may have changed, ask around and you'll find it, its in its own little court yard/garden. ITS WONDERFUL! have fun!!!
The best buys in Cozumel are Silver (make sure it is genuine .925%), marble/onyz chess sets, Tequila, and cotton rugs, hammocks and tops. Do be carefull if you buy the cotton articles when you wash them they could shrink a lot. Check out Poncho's Back Yard for a nice cool drink inside the gift store at the end of the main street. Anyone from the ship will be able to direct you. It is a lovely spot to relax after a great day in Cozumel.
Bon Voyage
There were a few items that I was looking to purchase especially perfumes on my recent cruise. Before I left I had written down the prices from Macy's and Neiman Marcus. I was told on this board that a shop in Martinique would probably have the best prices. I was astounded that their prices were the same as the department stores at home on several that I checked. In St Martin and Barbados the prices were the same as the perfume counter on Carnival's Spirit. I paid $36 for perfume that was priced at $68 at home. So on some items the ship might be a good bargain. The staff was very helpful and I felt more comfortable buying from Carnival. I don't know how their jewelry compares. Just something to keep in mind.
Enjoy your cruise! I've only been home a week and it seems like an eternity ago that I was sitting on my balcony. Time to book another cruise I guess.
